if only i were an amazon...
then i would fit into my HUGE ASS Deep V argyle vest. sob sob sob.
see that? it's blocking on a couch cushion. a freakin' couch cushion?!?!?!?!?!?!! sweet baby jesus. well, i've learned a couple of things with this project. to recap:
1. Knitpicks merino style is a lovely yarn at a bargin price. i want lots and lots of it.
2. when fair isle knitting, i apparently have to make a swatch that is just shy of the actual project measurements. (i got gauge on a swatch that was 4 repeats around, 2 repeats high)
3. blocking, while it really helps with the tension, wasn't enough to make this baby suitable for my frame. i should have went with my gut and frogged this fucker before i cut the steeks.
4. steeks rock my little universe. i love love love love them.
so, though this project (baring elvish intervention in the wee hours) is a bust, it was a giant learning experiance. oh, that's me, always looking for that silver lining. now i just have to figure out what to do with my giant vest...

Sorry...I hate it when that happens! On the upside, it's a gorgeous vest and well done! Can you steek it again to bring it in on the sides? (I've never done steeks before so have no idea what I'm talking about but just asking LOL)

Don't feel bad. mine was too long and I'm 5 11! It looks great though.

hahahha, *point point* bwahahaha! ROFL, uncontrollable laughter, hahaha (OK really I don't mean it!!)
That is a beautiful vest, and your knitting talent shows, despite the bigness of it. Don't worry.

Ahh, I am so so sorry. I am nervous mine is doing the same thing but I am past the point of no frogging. For the record, you did an awesome job. The vest is beautiful.

ugh i've had the same issue so many times! my friend daria calls the sweater i made her "her Minnie Pearl Sweater" cuz its so baggy. Perhaps you have a larger friend who might like it?

OMG! you are killing me in this post- you put a lot of work into that, no good that it isn't quite right- but like Kat said, maybe you know someone who it would be perfect for???

GAH! That sucks a lot. I have not started yet and now I'm afraid to, heh! You could always throw it in the washer and come out with a cute-ass bag. Get some awesome handles and you'd be set to go!

It looks awesome, despite being XXLarge. I had to laugh a little when I read this post, though, because I've had so many similar experiences, especially when I was first starting to knit (either way too big or WAY too small).

Baby! It works! I don't know how - maybe blogspirit changed IPs or something so that it's not blocked at the FW... but I can now read your blog from work! Hoody Hoo!
